So we are Leaving The European Union
Finally we leave, but do we? For all its faults, I think we may regret leaving in a years time or earlier, unless we are in the rich minority.

What A Day For Rain
Wild weather here today heavy rain and strong winds! Our camellia is taking a battering as it tries to blossom early.
Today on the news, David Attenborough seemed frustrated and angry as he tried once more to warn us all about the threat of global warming and the terrible fires in Australia. We continue to sleepwalk towards a wilder climate and I suppose it is only human to avoid uncomfortable changes to our lifestyle.
Since the 1970's my artwork has intermittently been concerned about environmental issues, deeper issues to do with the planet or society as well as traditional subjects.
Often more controversial work does not sell easily because it is not the sort of painting to cheer a room up and that's understandable. Nevertheless I believe that artists should sometimes address wider issues to bring a new perspective to established views.
In this blog, I prefer the word diary, I am attempting to lay out my issues, concerns, about the environment and society over my lifetime, but where to start? This will be largely be a list of paintings with explanations.
On a day like today, I think of the ocean and wild seas. The condition of the sea is the barometer for our planet and keeps everything in balance. This is an acrylic painting 2019 100cms long.

Diary or blog?
So now it looks as though I am a blogger again!
I say again as for many years I had diary pages on my old website, until Microsoft ditched their Frontpage Web Designer.
Now I use Xara Webdesign with my domain at www.mawdsley.co.uk
